Beverly Mills

Paris, city of light and life, its streets now empty, as they were during WW II, as they were...when does this madness stop? Beverly is a San Francisco based artist; her studio is in Chinatown, her subjects — critical social issues. Her current signature image is noir-influenced original black and white collage, using images gathered from around the world, mostly found, some photographed. She also works in wood assemblage and acrylic on clayboard. Each collage is hand crafted with archival materials and methods. Haunted Sanctuaries draws inspiration from spiritual centers–homes, schools, religious institutions–created to keep us safe; a trust too often betrayed. They are a kaleidoscope of images, incoherent, menacing, tender, hopeful. She was born on a small farm in Idaho; and has lived and worked in San Francisco, New York, London, Paris and Rome. She has traveled in over twenty countries, gathering images, philosophies and ethics. She has been involved in her home cities as Vice President, San Francisco Planning Commission; President/founding Chair, SPUR; Trustee, College of Idaho; Tutor, Home Away from Homelessness, Reading Partners and Trustee of Fort Mason Center for the Arts and member, Ferry Plaza Farmers Market;
