Summer in SF at the Alliance Health Project
Alliance Health Project leadership, staff, and community volunteers have been busy at several summer events in San Francisco. Staff and volunteers represented AHP for SF Pride on June 30, and marched in the annual parade as a festive contingent that was happy to represent the communities we serve. The event served as a joyous reminder of the importance of AHP’s mission and a celebration of the vibrant LGBTQ+ culture that makes SF a “Beacon of Love,” as indicated by this year’s theme.
San Francisco Pride is one of the largest LGBTQ+ celebrations in the world, with over 200 parade contingents and exhibitors, and many community-run stages and venues.
AHP staff and volunteers also supported the SF Trans March Resource Fair on June 28 at Dolores Park. The mission of the SF Trans March is to inspire all trans and gender non-conforming people to realize a world where they are safe, loved, and empowered. The SF Trans March strives to create a space for our diverse communities to unite and achieve the social justice and equality that each of us deserves. This year’s march marked the 20th anniversary and AHP was proud to serve as a gold sponsor.
Most recently, AHP participated in the SF AIDS Walk and (as of Monday, July 22) has raised over $15,000! Team AHP joined our UCSF partner teams and other San Francisco community-based organizations, sponsors, friends, and neighbors for AIDS Walk SF on Sunday, July 21 on a foggy summer day. AHP was proud to come together with people from across SF and across the Bay Area to remember those we've lost, to show solidarity and support for those still fighting, and to look to a future where HIV/AIDS is finally eradicated. A special post-Pride and SF AIDS Walk Appreciation warm-up karaoke fundraising event was also hosted at The Mint on Friday, July 19. To date, AHP is among the top 10 teams who have raised the most money for this year’s SF AIDS Walk. Thank you to all who walked, donated, and supported AIDS Walk SF and those living with, affected by, and lost to HIV/AIDS. There is still time to donate and help AHP reach its $20,000 goal before Aug. 30. As an AIDS Walk SF Community Partner, every donation will go directly to AHP. Click the team page and donate to any of the AHP walkers.
We appreciate our staff and volunteers at AHP. Together, we continue to represent, support, and advocate for the communities we serve.
Next up is AHP’s annual Art for AIDS fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 14. Save the date and check out more information about how to be a sponsor here.
